It’s the stuff that makes you want to sing Still Call Australia Home while crying into your vegemite and toast.
Yesterday we wrote about the new Tourism Australia ad campaign and some of the feedback from expats we received was pretty emotional.

The pictures and the sounds in the advertisement definitely are beautiful, but if you’re curious about the song used, you might be interested to know that it was borne out of a collaboration between Australian guitarist Dewayne Everettsmith and American viola player Jasmine Beams.
According to AdNews, Everettsmith, from Tasmania and Beams, from from Milkwaukee, were one of four musical pairs who were asked by Tourism Australia to join them around the country and use their experiences as inspiration for new music. The original aim was to create four short documentaries out of the experience, but the song, called ‘It’s Like Love,” was created as a bonus and chosen for the campaign
Tourism Australia’s marketing boss, Nick Baker, told AdNews that when they listened to the song, they knew it “just worked.”
“The song was written for the country, it feels like the country, and when we worked together with [advertising agency] DDB it just seemed right this would underscore the work we did.”
Beams, a viola player in the YouTube Symphony Orchestra, was selected to be flown to Australia to collaborate with Everettsmith as part of the project.
