Rove McManus has been blazing through the USA over the past year with great fervour: appearing regularly on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno, playing in comedy clubs in LA and generally taking the USA by storm. And now, Angelino Aussies and visitors can see Australia’s number one comedy export to the USA in their very backyard. If their backyard is the Warner Brothers Studio, that is.
The show, which premiered on October 6 with guests Russell Brand, Kristen Schaal and Adam Lambert, tapes every Wednesday from 6:00pm. Along with it comes a roster of big guests announced weekly (the last season saw appearances by Justin Timberlake, Hugh Jackman, Steve Carell, Pink and Eva Longoria). Much like something you might see on BBC, it also offers up a different format to the usual one found in America and Australia: rather than interview one guest at a time, it involves all the guests appearing at once, informally chatting with Rove over drinks. McManus also incorporates vox pops: taking a camera out into the streets of LA and chatting with residents about various issues.
If you’d like to get tickets to see Rove LA, you can do so online via this website. Tickets are free, and will be posted up to 60 days in advance. For those wanting to watch at home, the show airs in Australia on Fox8 (with reruns on The Comedy Channel), in New Zealand on TV3, in the UK on E!, and in the USA on TV Guide Network (where it airs on Saturdays at Midnight).
